Cheap alternative to the emerson Karambit knife
hey guys,
There was a thread here a few weeks ago about the Emerson Karambit knife (sorry, i can't find the old thread, but here's a link to an overview of what the knife does http://www.emersonknives.com/karambitinfo.htm). Its main draw to me was that it opens via a "snag" type horn on the top edge of the blade, enabling you to one-handedly draw and open the knife in one smooth motion. This ingenious draw/open mechanism has been floating around in my head for a while, long enough to where i convinced myself i needed one. I drove over to my local knife store today,...had $250 cash on me ready to buy one of the emersons if he had any in stock. Walked in, asked for the emerson. Dealer chuckled and said no, but he had these (http://cgi.ebay.com/CRKT-Desert-Crui...QQcmdZViewItem) on special for $25 bucks. This knife essentially does what the emerson does. If you flip the pocket clip upside down(extra clip, screws, and tool included with knife), when you pull the knife out of your pocket the horn will snag the blade and lock open in less than a blink. I walked out of the store with $223.00 more than i planned to, and got a hell of a good product. These knives are very solid and seem like they'll hold up to some abuse. for 25 bucks???? this knife rocks. go get one!! |
